Maldives | April 15 marks the day that the first of the world’s glass insacia restaurant Hilton opens its doors in the Maldives Resort and Spa.
Ithaa will sit five meters below the waves of the Indian Ocean, surrounded by a vibrant coral rock and surrounded by 270 degree Panoramic water under the clear acrylic offer.
“We have used aquarium technology so that dinner can be kept face-to-face with the underwater atmosphere of the Maldives,” says Carsten Schieck, General Manager of Hilton Maldives Resort and Spa.
“Our guests always comment on the colors, clarity and beauty of the underwater world in the Maldives, so it was a good idea to create a restaurant where dinner can experience fine food and enjoy ideas it can take time – without ever getting your feet wet,” says Carsten Schieck, General Manager of Hilton Maldives Resort and Spa.
Designed by New Zealand-based design consultancy MJ Murphy Limited, Ithaa’s distinctive feature is the use of the walls and roof of curved transparent acrylic, which are used in the aquarium attractions.
The fact is that the whole restaurant except the floor is made of acrylic clearly, it makes the world unique,” we are currently putting a coral garden on the rock to connect rays, sharks and spectacular scenes.
Colorful fish that live around the rock near the restaurant.
The distance of five meters by the nine meter transparent arch, which are spread over the entire room, seats 14 people and provides a feeling of being completely united in the underwater world under submerged water.
Set aside along the rock of the famous house of Sahara, and on the other, enjoy a delicious lagoon on the other, in the transparent shell of the dinners, because the underwater drama is open on all sides.
Naturally the food will be as wonderful as underwater settings, Schieck explains, in such a specific restaurant, we wanted to prepare a special meal, which is why we used “Contemporary Maldivian dish” as a theme, has decided to propose.
We take local spices and traditional flavors and they can find them in the best restaurant in London or New York, giving a Western twist to making a fusion dish.
No one has done this before and we are very excited about it.
Although food is dedicated to the fine balance of Western food items with the Maldivian flavor, the concept of alcohol is equally exciting;
Diners was given the perfect opportunity to discover the champagne house Louis Roger’s wine.
Ithaa has reached a wooden walkway from the surrounding Sunset Grill restaurant.
Diners start their meals with drinks on a specially made deck over the sea, and then come down to the restaurant through a spiral staircase, where the à la carte menu is served.
The place of seating of only 14 people, Ithaa offers the most intimate and exclusive food experience in the world.
