Where is the World’s First Undersea Restaurant?

Maldives | April 15 marks the day that the first of the world’s glass insacia restaurant Hilton opens its doors in the Maldives Resort and Spa.

Ithaa will sit five meters below the waves of the Indian Ocean, surrounded by a vibrant coral rock and surrounded by 270 degree Panoramic water under the clear acrylic offer.

“We have used aquarium technology so that dinner can be kept face-to-face with the underwater atmosphere of the Maldives,” says Carsten Schieck, General Manager of Hilton Maldives Resort and Spa.

“Our guests always comment on the colors, clarity and beauty of the underwater world in the Maldives, so it was a good idea to create a restaurant where dinner can experience fine food and enjoy ideas it can take time – without ever getting your feet wet,” says Carsten Schieck, General Manager of Hilton Maldives Resort and Spa.

Designed by New Zealand-based design consultancy MJ Murphy Limited, Ithaa’s distinctive feature is the use of the walls and roof of curved transparent acrylic, which are used in the aquarium attractions.
